- Introduction
The lecture Powder Injection Moulding (PIM) provides an overview over PM (Powder Metallurgy) manufacturing technologies, which use polymers as a medium to enable the shaping of complex geometries for metal or ceramic parts. The main technology in focus is PIM. Additionally, related technologies of AM (Additive Manufacturing) are discussed.
This lecture provides the student with general knowledge on binder-based manufacturing technologies in PM, with emphasis on PIM. This covers raw materials, process steps, design rules and general information on competing technologies and markets.
In a preliminary meeting, the goals and structure of the lecture PIM are presented, and the overall content and use of the first lessons in Moodle are explained. The detailed dates for the lectures are fixed jointly.
The participants of this lecture are having different backgrounds. Therefore, in a first phase, the students have to work on some lessons to ensure that all can start from a certain level of knowledge. A certain background in physics and chemistry is required.
The second part are lectures in presence or by web.
The examination will be orally at the end of the lecture.
