4.2 Designing your learning pathway

A learning path is a well-selected and guided sequence of courses with an aim of teaching a particular subject or skill. It often contains a number of chapters, each of which may contain child elements - documents, links and quizzes.

  1. Step 1: Start off by introducing the learning path experience.
  2. Step 2: Present content and topic with a video or any other material that will explain the basis of the topic to be introduced.
  3. Step 3: Add additional resource to help students explore the subject matter in more detail.
  4. Step 4: Make sure that the student understands the topic, focus on developing critical thinking and discussing key concepts.
  5. Step 5: Encourage the making of connections and student’s own recommendations.
  6. Step 6: Track the progress by assigning tasks to encourage students to keep up with the objectives. Make contributions to discussions and groupwork.
